Broadway's Best: Benefit for Breast Cancer 06' [11 Oct 2005|09:42am]
[ mood | excited ]
[ music | "I Hope I Get It"- A Chorus Line ]

HEADS UP ON: AUDITION INFORMATION

The following are the musical numbers selected for the 2006 Broadway's Best. Auditions will be held in May 2006 however by putting this list up early, we'd like everyone to become familiar with the following pieces as these will be the songs and the order the show will be rehearsed and performed. We will be accepting approximately 8 women and 6 men for this years cast. This audition is an open call meaning anyone and everyone is invited to attend and audition so bring all your friends and theatre junkies too! The call will also be posted on Debb's Web at a later date. At the audition you will need to have prepared two 16 bar selections. Please have cuts written in the music. We'd prefer them to be two contrasting pieces; one of an upbeat belt or modern piece and another showcasing headvoice and falsetto from any time period. The entire audition will take place during a four hour period. Singing & dancing auditions will take place first. A possible cold reading to showcase the level of one's acting ability may be required at the audition as well eventhough there will be no monologues or dialigoue in the show itself. Men please wear comfortable clothes and jazz sneakers if possible and women should wear jazz sneakers or jazz shoes as well. *Please: no character shoes for auditions* We are anticipating a large turnout so do your best. When you arrive at the audition you will receive the audition information and you will also receive a sheet with the following songs you see listed on it. You will then highlight any and all solos you wish to audition for. After everyone sings their two pieces we will then call back people up to review and sing the pieces listed below. Please note: no music will be taught the day of auditions. If you are auditioning for a particular piece in the show you must be familiar with it prior to that day however it does not have to be memorized. What we are looking for is someone who can not only sing but act their song the best. Please bring both your resume and headshot to the audition. This is a crucial part of your audition and also shows how responsible and professional someone truly can be. At the conclusion of the audition the selected cast of 14 people will each receive a CD of the show. At that time, the people who auditioned will only be notified of who was selected to be apart of the show and NOT who's singing what solos. Later that evening, the specific cast list will be posted here on Live Journal. There is a minor fee of $35 due the first rehearsal to help us get the "show on the road" so to speak. This fee will cover the cost of the pit music, binding of the books, and copies of music for each cast member and also will go to t-shirts for each person in the cast. By the second or third rehearsal every person will receive flyers to hang up around the community and pink breast cancer ribbons to kick off the show. Keep in mind, this year we are looking for a heavily devoted cast not only able to sing, but act and dance fairly well too. So, do your best... for your conveniece the show is listed below so start downloading those songs and get it on it! The sooner you start, the better chance you have. On behalf of the Broadway's Best Directorial Staff, myself Justin Moniz (Musical Director), Jason Garrison (Director), and Jacki Marano (Choreographer) we wish all the best of luck to all. If at any time between now, (October) and the audition, (May), anyone and everyone should feel free to contact us with any questions or even get together to review or work on something you may want to use for auditions. Any other questions or comments? Please e-mail, BroadwaysBest06@aol.com
